# Agentic AI

Agentic AI refers to [artificial intelligence](https://www.o2oh.com/glossary/artificial-intelligence) systems that autonomously pursue goals across multi-step processes, without step-by-step human instruction. Unlike conventional AI tools that only respond to queries, agentic systems plan, execute, observe outcomes, and adapt. 

For example, they can adjust production schedules when suppliers delay, flag quality anomalies before detection by a line manager, or coordinate cross-functional resources without human intervention.

These systems operate through [AI Agents](https://www.o2oh.com/glossary/ai-agent), which are purpose-built units that perceive, decide, and act within defined domains. This represents a shift from AI as an advisor to AI as an actor.
