Blast Furnace Slag (BFS)

Blast Furnace Slag (BFS) is the vital non-metallic byproduct generated during the reduction of iron ore into molten pig iron within a blast furnace.

Primarily a molten mixture of silica, alumina, and lime, BFS absorbs impurities and the gangue material from the iron ore. It floats atop the hot metal before being tapped separately.
