Coke

Coke is an essential material in industrial processes, specifically the high-carbon solid derived from coal or petroleum.

Coke is a grey, hard, and porous carbonaceous fuel. The primary use of coke is in blast furnaces for iron and steel production, where it acts as a crucial fuel and a reducing agent for iron ore.

Owing to its elevated carbon levels and minimal impurities, it provides intense heat and the necessary carbon monoxide gas CO for the chemical reduction of iron oxides. This material is foundational to heavy industry and engineering.
