Cradle to Gate is a specific scope for conducting a [**Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)**](https://www.o2oh.com/glossary/life-cycle-assessment-lca). It involves a partial evaluation of a product's ecological footprint, from sourcing raw materials ("cradle") through material processing, manufacturing, and transport to the point where the product is ready to leave the factory ("gate").

This scope is widely used for business-to-business (B2B) communication and for creating [**Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)**](https://www.o2oh.com/glossary/epd-environmental-product-declaration), as it focuses on the impacts controlled directly by the manufacturer.
