Scenario Planning

Scenario Planning is a strategic management approach intended to address significant uncertainty, including High-Impact, Low-Probability (HILP) risks.

These narratives—or scenarios—are not predictions; they are structured stories that describe how the future could unfold based on different combinations of key driving forces (e.g., political shifts, technological breakthroughs).

The rise of Generative AI is a prime example of deep uncertainty in scenario planning. It can be used as a key driver to explore futures: from regulated, slow adoption to rapid, disruptive, and unregulated societal integration.

The goal is to test current strategies against these varied futures, identify vulnerabilities, and develop robust, adaptive strategies that perform well across a wide range of possibilities, thereby enhancing organizational resilience rather than simply predicting a single outcome.
