# Tundish

A tundish is a [refractory](https://www.o2oh.com/glossary/refractories)-lined vessel used in continuous casting to serve as a reservoir and distributor between the ladle and the mold.

It regulates molten steel flow to maintain a steady, low-velocity supply and stable casting speed. The tundish also acts as a metallurgical reactor, removing inclusions to improve steel purity.
