Whisker Prevention

Whisker prevention is critical in electronics manufacturing to maintain long-term reliability, particularly after the global move to lead-free (pure tin) solders.

Whiskers are crystalline filaments that spontaneously grow from metal surfaces, such as stannum and zinc, driven primarily by compressive stress in the plating layer. They cause catastrophic electrical shorts and system failures.
