Zinc (Zn) is a metallic element known for its excellent corrosion resistance. Its primary industrial application is as a protective coating for steel, a process known as galvanizing.

By creating a physical barrier and functioning as a sacrificial anode, zinc corrodes preferentially, thereby preventing rust on the underlying steel. This protective mechanism makes zinc a cornerstone of modern construction and infrastructure. Beyond this, zinc is a key component in alloys like brass, is used in batteries, and serves as an essential trace element in human biology.
