Proof of Concept (PoC)

A Proof of Concept (PoC) is a small, focused exercise designed to verify that a specific idea or technical approach is feasible and viable. The goal of a is not to build a finished product, but merely to answer the fundamental question: "Can this work?" It minimizes risk by testing core assumptions early in the development cycle.

In manufacturing, PoC is crucial for validating the deployment of new technologies, such as Industry 4.0 systems, advanced robotics, or additive manufacturing processes. A manufacturer might use a PoC to confirm that a new sensor can reliably collect data on a factory floor or that a specific AI algorithm can accurately detect defects on a small scale before committing to a costly, full-scale implementation. It ensures technical feasibility before investment.
